About Andrea Mancianti

I am a composer, performer and sound artist working with acoustic instruments, DIY electronics and peculiar acoustic spaces. I studied composition and music technology and Philosophy. I also completed the IRCAM Cursus in Paris. Currently I am a doctoral candidate in the department of Media, of Aalto University, Helsinki, researching collaborative practices. My practice often involves collaborative processes, site-specific installations, and tinkering with augmented instruments and feedback systems. With a background between classical and popular music, my work spans contemporary and experimental music, audiovisual performance, music theatre, and installations. I have presented projects both at institutions and festivals, as well as in underground DIY contexts.
I am in the board of the association Äänen Lumo (Charm of Sound) and one of the founders of Toinen Kerros in Helsinki. I am a strong supporter of open and DIY culture, and my work is available under Creative Commons A-NC-SA.
